Think and Grow Rich

Think and Grow Rich, a timeless classic from Napoleon Hill, outlines the famous 17 principles of success used by the wealth-builders of the 20th century.

Interviews with William Wrigley, Alexander Graham Bell, Andrew Carnegie and over 500 other pioneers of the Great American Dream reveal the secrets that helped them rise to  the very peak of their powers and became the root of Napoleon Hill's masterpieceThink and Grow Rich.

Incidentally, the publisher’s suggestion for a title for the work was Use Your Noodle to Earn More Boodle; it doesn’t quite trip off the tongue in the same way as Think and Grow Rich.

Success requires no explanation

Failure permits no alibis

Napoleon Hill
Napoleon Hill in his masterly exposition, published in 1937 at the end of the Great Depression espouses the secrets of the legendary leaders who dominated their industries. However, much of the material for Think and Grow Rich had previously been published in 1928 as The Law of Success and in 1930 as The Magic Ladder to Success at the start of the Great Depression.

It may well be that the publication of these earlier works were not as successful as they might have been due to the difficult economic circumstances of the Great Depression.

Nevertheless, Napoleon Hill used the intervening years to prove the validity of his 17 Principles of the Law of Success.

From the classic Think and Grow Rich here they are:

  • The Master Mind
  • The Importance of a Definite Aim
  • Self-confidence
  • The Habit of Saving
  • Initiative and Leadership
  • Imagination
  • Enthusiasm
  • Self-control
  • The Habit of Doing More than Paid for
  • The Personality of Success
  • Accurate Thinking
  • Concentration
  • Cooperation
  • Profiting by Failure
  • Tolerance
  • Using the Golden Rule to Win Cooperation
  • The Habit of Health

These timeless principles are still the bedrock of success in the 21st century for many of today's top achievers recognize the enduring importance of the blueprint for success first outlined in Think and Grow Rich.

In fact, at some stage or other, all of these 17 principles have been the subject of separate study courses in personal development, wealth building, mind and body, business strategy, sales training and spiritual growth.

Many world-famous motivational speakers and authors cut their teeth on Napoleon Hill and readily acknowledge the significance of Think and Grow Rich in their own teachings.

Among these names are many whose material is used today such as Anthony Robbins, Zig Ziglar, Earl Nightingale, Dale Carnegie, Norman Vincent Peale, Robert Schuller and Denis Waitley and W.Clement Stone.

Interestingly, one of The 17 Principles of the Law of Success is Imagination and calls to mind a quotation from the other Napoleon, Napoleon Bonaparte, “Imagination Rules the World”…a most apt quotation this article on Think and Grow Rich.
